A couple weeks ago, I discovered the upholstery was peeling on my driver’s seat.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Needless to say, this is unacceptable on a 2016 car with 4,300 miles.
However, the dealer called me today and verified Mazda did approve the warranty fix and a new cover has been ordered for the seat. Thank goodness, because I REALLY didn’t feel like arguing with them about it.
However, the cover itself is on back order and is actually still in the process of being made by the manufacturer. This is apparently a very random one-off problem (I couldn’t find any mention of it anywhere online and the dealer had never heard of it, either). So, they haven’t exactly scrambled to make spare seat covers. However, once the cover comes in, the dealer will call me for a repair and all will be right with the universe again.

Is it a one off problem and they don’t have production to cover it or is it a huge problem and they can’t keep up with production to fix it....?

What I thought when you said it is on backorder: it means you will get your new cover later so your car will look newish/newer longer after you got it. And since its a one off problem you’ll have a new cover with no problems.

What percent tint did you put on it? I have the exact same car and I am gonna get the windows tinted I just don't know if I should do the legal 35 front and 20 at the back or 20 all the way around.

I did 20 all the way around and I like the way it looks quite well. Thankfully, tint laws aren't really enforced around here.

Thankfully the Mazda rust plague never bothered us. My ‘08 Mazda3 was completely rust free and my wife’s CX-5 is still fine as well.

“and the dealer had never heard of it,”
When it comes to problems, no dealer will ever admit to hearing about problems with anything they are selling. All of the problems are with their competitor’s cars...
:-/
If this is truly a “one-off” problem, we will probably know for sure in a year or two.
Have you posted on any Mazda forums asking if anyone else has experienced this problem?

They don’t really enforce the laws around here either, I think 20 is probably the best looking as well

Here’s a couple better pictures of what the 20% all around looks like.
